Arts & Enrichment Instructor Part-Time

Sheridan- Sheridan Recreation Center

$12.25 - $18.00 per hour

Do you have a passion for teaching? Are you an exemplary teacher who loves enriching the lives of others? Then this is the opportunity for you! The Creativity Lab Facilitator/Art Instructor is a part-time position in the Arts and Enrichment Division of South Suburban Parks and Recreation. The Creativity Lab is an open-ended art space for community members of all ages. In this specific roles, the instructor enthusiastically works with Creativity Lab guests of all ages during open Lab hours, ensures donations and supplies are organized and keeps the Lab orderly and clean, documents attendance, communicates well with Arts and Enrichment staff and Sheridan Recreation Staff, developing positive, professional relationships with Creativity Lab guests and recreation center patrons.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Prior experience teaching art and/or enrichment is highly preferred.
  • Current AED/CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive work relationship with program participants, parents of children, and staff.
  • Will be able to communicate effectively with children, parents of children, and staff.
  • Must have the ability to visually and audibly supervise children in a variety of situations. 
  • Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experienced and comfortable working with children, teens, and adults, and able to handle a chaotic, high-energy environment.
  • Has experience with a wide range of 2-D and 3-D visual art media, crafting techniques, and creating art out of found objects and recyclables.

Minimum Qualifications

Arts & Enrichment Facilitator I
(Rate: $12.25 - $15.93 per hour)

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of teaching experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment.

Arts & Enrichment Facilitator II 
(Rate: $13.84 - $18.00 per hour)

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must have at least three (3) years of teaching experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment.
