Youth & Adult Soccer Coordinator
(Full Time, Non-Exempt)
$44,510 - $53,638 per year
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Athletics Program Supervisor (Sports
Dome) this position is responsible for the planning, organizing,
scheduling, promoting and supervision of a variety of youth and adult
soccer programs and special events. The Athletics Coordinator is
responsible for programs at the Sports Dome and Sports Complex
facilities, and may be assigned to work in other areas and special
events within or outside of the Department. This position assists in
general supervision of the Sports Dome facility and may substitute for
the Athletics Program Supervisor (Sports Dome) in their absence and
assume all duties, as needed.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates and leads a variety of programs for various ages and
skill levels in the areas of leagues, tournaments, special events,
clinics, camps and rentals to meet the recreational needs of the
community. Assists in the scheduling of programs and determines
appropriate number and nature of programs.
- Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates assigned staff;
provides or coordinates staff training, and works with employees to
correct deficiencies.
- Assists with the preparation and monitoring of the budget, manage
revenues and expenditures and prepare financial reports. Prepare
purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests. Collect and record
payments/fees for programs and outstanding balances. Prepare short
and long-range revenue/expenditure projections, check revenue
streams through POS etc. Develop and recommend program related
costs, fees, and locations.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and tracking of a
marketing strategy; notifying the public of District events.
Solicits sponsors and donations for programs and special events as assigned.
- Determine community needs by evaluating programs, discipline areas
and activities; make recommendations for improvement and future
development, and implement changes. Survey and educate the community
on Athletic offerings.
- Assist with policy enforcement and procedural manuals; conduct
periodic staff meetings to provide and gather information, answer
questions and respond to complaints and concerns, both internally
and externally. Review program rules with teams and resolve any
disputes in a timely manner.
- Provide a variety of general information to the public regarding
parks and recreation operations and programs; respond to questions
and resolve complaints as needed.
- Assist in maintaining records and makes reports as directed,
including attendance reports, program reports, accident reports,
weekly and monthly program reports, program analysis and personnel evaluations.
- Monitors application of POS system for registration purposes.
Evaluates and provides feedback for any enhancements to the process.
Monitors external scheduling via Team Sideline and registration
sites and provides data and feedback.
- Oversees collection of all monies for activities and ensures that
all monies are handled according to District policies, and are
gathered prior to participation. All financial records shall be
maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting
practices and shall be available for review at reasonable times.
- Develops schedules for league play, makes sure games and programs
are properly supervised, and determines the appropriate number and
nature of programs, for both games and officials.
- Observe necessary precautions to assure general public safety;
inspect facilities/grounds for safety and maintenance needs.
- Conducts team/manager meetings prior to the start of each season.
Strictly enforces the District’s Code of Conduct related to the
behavior of each athlete/participant.
- Provides or ensures general security at facilities and programs
under his/her direct supervision including proper control and
issuance of keys and equipment.
- Recognize emergency and dangerous situations by reacting quickly
and calmly; administer first aid as needed. Completes
Accident/Incident report.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay
abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of recreational services.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations.
- Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Physical
Education, or other closely related field.
- Minimum experience of two (2) years in a similar position required.
- A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification or the ability to obtain
within ninety (90) days of hire.
- Official’s certification in related sports is highly recommended.
- Training in current Youth Sports issues including parent, coach
and officials training preferred (CYSA).
- Vast knowledge of soccer programming
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License or have the ability
to obtain within six (6) months of hire and maintain an acceptable
driving record.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Parks and Recreation services including
facilities, recreation programs needs assessment and development,
youth and adult sports programs; with emphasis in
soccer, and special events associated operations and
maintenance activities and resources.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and
high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service and get along with
coworkers, patrons, and supervisors and interact with employees and
vendors in a professional manner.
- Skills in training, communications and public relations.
- Knowledge of emergency first aid procedures (CPR/First Aid/AED).
- Knowledge of basic techniques and methodology of organizing groups
in a recreation setting.
- Understands the general philosophy of recreation and its
application to youth and adult sports programs and special events.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and with a variety
of audiences including customers, staff, and special interest groups.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate the work of staff effectively.
Material and Equipment Used
:
To successfully perform the required job duties, this position
regularly uses a phone, computer, printer, fax and other office equipment.
Working Environment
:
This position primarily works in a Recreation Center and comfortable
office environment subject to continuous interruptions and background
noises. Occasionally works outside subject to variable weather
conditions, ecosystems and landscape. This position may need to drive
personal vehicle to various District facilities.
Physical Requirements
:
Stand, walk, handle and operate objects and office equipment, reach
outward and above shoulder and carry, pull, push or lift up to 25
pounds without assistance. May occasionally climb, crawl, squat, kneel
and lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance. The employee must be able
to see close up and at a distance with vision acuity and the ability
to adjust focus allowing a broad field of vision. The employee must
communicate clearly and effectively, must understand and be understood.
