Resource Technician Part-Time

$16.25 - $20.67 per hour

This position is responsible for helping to keep South Platte Park in excellent condition ecologically, aesthetically, and safe by assisting in the implementation of a wide variety of resource management projects. Duties include: weed control, watering tree and shrub plantings, trail maintenance, restroom and trash cleanup, bridge and boardwalk repair, mowing and trail clearance work, erosion repair, natural area restoration, and landscape maintenance.

You can also choose to assist in the daily work of an Interpretive Program Coordinator, Nature Center Coordinator, or Park Ranger to gain experience with equipment and facility management where you will have the opportunity to earn your Certified Interpretive Guide certification, CPR/First Aid certification and a certificate of completion in several areas of park and program experiences. Mentors through several program areas will be available for you during and after your season for advice, networking, training and resume building.

This position works weekdays and occasional Saturdays.

This position may also count towards school internships depending on your specific school requirements.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has knowledge of Colorado’s ecosystems, plant and animal identification techniques, and local flora and fauna.
  • Has knowledge of methods, techniques and tools used in the maintenance of parks, landscaping areas and related facilities preferred.
  • Understands watering requirements for lawns, trees, plants and various types of soil preferred.
  • Able to exhibit use and maintenance of chemical spraying equipment preferred.
  • Display operation of a wide variety of equipment and tools used in parks maintenance, repair and construction in a safe and effective manner.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally; establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public.
  • Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Has the ability to work productively without supervision within established policies and procedures service.
  • Has the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
  • Colorado Pesticide Applicators License is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certifications in AED/CPR and First Aid or the ability to obtain such certifications within sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record.
