Hockey Skills Coach Part-Time

$19.85 - $27.82 per hour

We are looking for someone who wants to give back to the game of ice hockey while impacting and influencing all ice hockey participants! The Hockey Skills Coach is responsible for providing on-ice instruction to include Power skating, stick handling, checking and overall hockey skill development to the AYHL Hockey program participants. The Hockey Skills coach teaches both skating and hockey skills to the AYHL coaches and participants. The position will keep accurate attendance records, develop lesson plans/on ice drills, as well as evaluate and assess skill level and progress of all participants. This job may require shifts ranging from morning to evening hours. Clinics are usually held on weekday morning hours before school.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Proficient at ice skating is required.
  • Understands the game of hockey as both a coach and player.
  • Has the ability to design a practice plan and execute it on the ice.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally; establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public.
  • Has the ability to effectively manage conflict.
  • Requires the ability to communicate verbally with both children and adults.
  • Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of ice-skating and hockey skills experience as a player at the collegiate or professional level.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as an instructor.
  • USA Hockey clinics or higher classes encouraged.
  • Current Ice Sports Industry (ISI) and/or Professional Skaters Association (PSA) Member.
  • Current certifications in AED/CPR/First Aid or the ability to obtain such certifications within thirty (30) days of employment.
